The overall objective of the Local Hiring Effects Study is to maximize the opportunity for project employment of people residing within South Bruce while sustaining the workforce needed by the existing businesses in the Municipality.
Leading the study on behalf of the Municipality is MDB Insight, an experienced and respected consulting firm. Their consultants will be involved throughout the development of research and analysis for the Local Hiring Effects Study and Strategy, including all stakeholder engagement aspects.
Critical components of the Local Hiring Effects Study include the Employee/Job-Seeker Survey and the Employer Survey, respectively, which were available until February 16th at 4pm.
There was an industry-focused workshop on February 23rd at 7pm which was an opportunity for employers, business owners and business associations to provide critical input to the study.

The overall objective of this study is to engage with and provide opportunities for youth in the community. This may include investments in education and incentives for youth to remain in or return to the local community and work for NWMO and the nuclear energy sector in general.
Leading the study on behalf of the Municipality is MDB Insight, an experienced and respected consulting firm. Their consultants will be involved throughout the development of research and analysis for the Economic Development Study on Youth, including all stakeholder engagement aspects.
As Canada’s premiere economic development, workforce development, and market research consultancy, MDB Insight has completed numerous workforce development and economic development projects for communities across the country.
As part of the study, the Municipality of South Bruce's #NextGenNetwork facilitated a Youth Economic Development Workshop, which was led by MDB Insight consultants. This workshop, was held on February 8th at 7pm for young people between the ages of 12-30 that are South Bruce residents. At this workshop, questions such as: How can youth contribute to growth in our community? What are ways to attract or retain young people in South Bruce? and more were discussed.

This study will identify:
- the existing agricultural/agri-business profile of the local area
- the potential for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Project to change the agriculture/agri-business operations in the area
- potential strategies for use of the NWMO lands to facilitate new agri-business entrants
- potential strategies, if needed, to address a potential change in the value of the agricultural products.

On February 15th, 2022, two workshops were hosted by MDB Insight for agriculture and agribusiness stakeholders to develop a draft vision for agriculture business in South Bruce and the region taking the NWMO Project into consideration.Questionnaire
A questionnaire with identical questions to the workshops has been prepared and is available to complete in a variety of ways.
If you are involved in agriculture/agri-business but are unable to attend one of the public workshops, you are encouraged to complete the questionnaire to provide feedback into the study.
The deadline to complete and submit the questionnaire is March 4th, 2022 at 4pm.
An electronic copy of the questionnaire can be found by clicking on the Documents tab on the right side of the Project Switchboard page. You can also request that a paper copy be mailed to you, or picked up from the Municipal Office. The end of the questionnaire contains details on how it can be submitted.

Share Tourism Industry Effects Study and Strategy on Facebook Share Tourism Industry Effects Study and Strategy on Twitter Share Tourism Industry Effects Study and Strategy on Linkedin Email Tourism Industry Effects Study and Strategy linkCLOSED: This discussion has concluded.The Municipality of South Bruce is developing a Tourism Industry Effects Study and Strategy to identify opportunities to expand the tourism sector in a way that complements the unique natural and agricultural character of the community. The study will also identify the potential changes in tourism that will result from the implementation of the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Project as people come to visit the site and the associated Centre of Expertise. Strategies for expansion of the tourism industry in South Bruce will also be explored to meet the change in demand that also preserve the unique natural and agricultural character of the community.

As part of the consultation process, a Tourism Industry Vision Workshop was held on February 1st, that offered South Bruce tourism stakeholders the opportunity to develop a draft vision for the tourism industry in South Bruce and the region taking the NWMO opportunity into consideration.
