Economic Development Study on Youth
The Municipality of South Bruce is developing an economic development study focused on its youth to understand their needs and the necessary skills to participate in the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) Project. The overall objective of this study is to engage with and provide opportunities for youth in the community. This may include investments in education and incentives for youth to remain in or return to the local community and work for NWMO and the nuclear energy sector in general.
Leading the study on behalf of the Municipality is MDB Insight, an experienced and respected consulting firm. Their consultants will be involved throughout the development of research and analysis for the Economic Development Study on Youth, including all stakeholder engagement aspects.
As Canada’s premiere economic development, workforce development, and market research consultancy, MDB Insight has completed numerous workforce development and economic development projects for communities across the country.
As part of the study, the Municipality of South Bruce's #NextGenNetwork facilitated a Youth Economic Development Workshop, which was led by MDB Insight consultants. This workshop, was held on February 8th at 7pm for young people between the ages of 12-30 that are South Bruce residents. At this workshop, questions such as: How can youth contribute to growth in our community? What are ways to attract or retain young people in South Bruce? and more were discussed.
