The federal government has announced that Canada will ban the sale of fuel-burning new cars and light-duty trucks by 2035 as part of their efforts to reach net zero emissions across the country by 2050. The federal government has set a target for Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) to be 10 percent of all car sales by 2025—reaching 100 percent of all sales by 2035. Projections indicate Ontario will have almost three million ZEVs on the road by 2035.
